A mustang stallion standing on a promontory with the wind blowing his mane and tail.  The mustang is a descendant of the Barb horse and has one less lumbar vertebrae. The Medicine Hat color phase of "bonnet" and "shield" markings on the head and chest was considered to have mystical powers by certain Indian tribes and it was thought riding one into battle would make the rider invincible. An Indian owning a Medicine Hat had to prove his bravery before he was allowed to ride it into battle.
